Thelma congratulates Hawaii's first Filipino Governor Ben Cayetano, elected in 1994. Thelma was working for the Governor Tony Knowles administration at the time.. When Cayetano attended a western governors conference, Thelma arranged for a reception at the Alyeska Prince Hotel in Girdwood, where the governors were meeting, and hosted about a hundred members of the local Filipino community. The local people drove down during working hours to meet Governor Cayetano. |
